Nothing But Chex Mix

Prepare Ingredients and Preheat Oven

Notes: Ensure the bowl for the cereal is large enough to allow for easy mixing.

Ingredients

12 cups of Chex cereal – I used 4 cups each of Rice (Corn and Wheat Chex)

6 tablespoons melted butter

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt

3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.

Put cereal in a large bowl.

In a separate small bowl, mix together melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Combine Cereal and Seasoning

Notes: Stir carefully to avoid crushing the cereal.

Prepared butter and seasoning mixture

Instructions

Pour the butter and seasoning mixture over the cereal.

Stir gently but thoroughly until the cereal is evenly coated.

Bake the Chex Mix

Notes: Stirring every 15 minutes helps the cereal bake evenly and become crispy without burning.

Coated Chex cereal

Instructions

Spread the seasoned cereal in a single, even layer on a large ungreased baking sheet.

Bake for one hour.

Stir the cereal every 15 minutes during baking.

Cool and Store

Notes: Ensure the Chex mix is fully cooled before storing to maintain maximum crunchiness. Store at room temperature. Minimally adapted from the Original Chex Party Mix Recipe.

Instructions

Remove the baking sheet from the oven.

Allow the Chex mix to cool completely on the baking sheet.

Stir it a few times as it cools to prevent clumping.

Once completely cool, transfer the Chex mix to an air tight container for storage.
